Everyone is aware of the big todo going on over the government takeover of the healthcare industry. According to Lamar Smith R, from Texas here’s the breakdown of the unisured.

The figure often cited to justify this government intrusion into the private sector is that there are 46 million uninsured “Americans.”

However, when you omit noncitizens (9.5 million), individuals eligible for public programs but not enrolled, (12 million), the temporarily uninsured due to job change (9 million), and those who earn more than $84,000, but elect to forgo coverage (7 million), we arrive at about 8 million long-term uninsured.

Editors Note: First health care idea I’ve ever seen that actually made sense. Unfortunately it will probably never happen.
It should be clear to all that the purpose of the health care “reform” offensive is not making our health care better. Rather, its making ever more citizens dependent on the Feds., in the form of the liberal/Left takeover underway.

Real reform would entail very simple, but very specific changes to current insurance laws, and would not cost anywhere near the ridiculous numbers currently being shilled by the present Administration.

1. Where pre-existing serious illnesses exist, a Federal supplement, PAID TO PRIVATE INSURANCE, could be provided to prevent destituting working families – any families.
2. Medicaid already exists for non-working or “poverty-stricken” individuals. Already should be addressing coverage necessary for children! Clean-up this existing system.
3. TORT REFORM – Stop the ambulance chasers in their tracks. Unfortunately, as the vast majority of the congress are lawyers, this may be the singularly most difficult task.
4. Remove and eliminate all illegal use of the health care system. Non-citizens need not apply.
5. Lastly, actually police the criminal scams in Medicare and Medicaid, where some few doctors have been found to be billing testing and procedures not actually performed! Some few have been prosecuted, but not nearly enough. Anyone convicted of scamming any of the health care system should face extremely severe penalties.

Ultimately, it would be better that nothing be changed before letting the the present massive “overhaul” essentially destroy the working current health care system we have now. Cost cannot continue their exorbitant inflationary spiral, but the imposition of another massive Federal bureaucracy will kill us! Literally!

Betting on the Breeders Cup Championship

There are many considerations you will want to include in your calculations for betting on the Breeders Cup Championship horse race. The race will be held in 2009 at Santa Anita Parkway which has an excellent online handicapping service. In addition, there are handicap statistics posted in the park that are easy to find and understand.

Handicapping is a very important part of making an effective decision on how to bet. In order to make an profitable wager you will want to gather as much information about each horse in a race as you can. This includes more than just how they run and their endurance and stamina. You will want to include how the horse responds to synthetic surfaces if you are betting on the Breeders Cup effectively. Once you have selected the horses you will wager on in the fourteen races that will be held you will be ready to wager.

You have many options when you start betting on the Breeders Cup. The bests that pay out the least return are a “straight” bet which is made for your horse to win, place, or show or an “Across the Board” bet which bets that your horse will finish in any of the first three positions and your payout is based on where they place.

When people are betting on the Breeders Cup, this is the most common bet that will be made. There are three bets that are used more than other exotic wagers and they are the “Exacta” where you pick the first two finishing horses in the order they will finish; the “Trifecta” where you pick the first three finishing horses in the order they will finish; and the “Superfecta” where you pick the first four horses in the order they will finish. Another popular bet is the “Daily Double” which is where you pick the winner for two races.

There are many more betting strategies when you are betting on the Breeders Cup that can be employed, but these bets allow you to use the information you have gotten during handicapping and calculating the odds and are easier to follow.

It is important when you are betting on the Breeders Cup that you take into consideration the amount of money you are comfortable losing. Set aside a bankroll that will cover your betting on all fourteen races. If you want to bet more on one race than on another you will not have to dip into your other money to pay for it.

Be sure that you keep very good records of your wins, losses, and who won. This will come in handy at tax time should you successfully win a large wager.

When you decide what horse will win, have a back-up horse in mind also. That way, if your favorite is injured or cannot race, you will already have all of your homework done on the back-up and you will be able to wager accordingly.

If you have handicapped all of the horses in a race, you will have no problem with selecting four horses and their places for the Superfecta. By taking the time to do your handicapping you will have all of the information you need to begin betting on the Breeders Cup.

Remember also that if there is no data on horses that have not run on synthetic surfaces before, you will need to lower their odds of winning since they may have some difficult with the surface the first time they run on it.

If you get a chance, watch the horses pace so that you can get a feel for how comfortable they are on the surface they are running.
